ies4linux is based on wine, however when I install it on chinese liveCD CDlinux and tinycore (DSL derivative), in both cases ies4linux hang there.
I have debugged the script and found it is using wget -b in background modes and use complex script to check the progress.
This simple project will release a modification to lib/functions.sh in official ies4linux;
the only thing difference is wget now works in foreground and no other checking is running until download finished.
Also some little script update to solve dependency problem on tinycore and CDlinux.
After this edit, most linux distribution esp. chinese liveCD and liveUSB (where typically have little source compilation and package management capabilities) will be able to install wineIE6 correctly, use digital ids for taobao and pay via online-bankings.
