this project is a simple extension to the well-supported and tested OpenLayers project. Where OpenLayers is centered on the display of Geographic data in (google-maps like) slippy maps, this project provides the functionality to view Genomic data.
Genomic images are requested from a serverside script that generates an image of genomic features for the requested width, height, and base-pair range. The image-generation program can be any program that accepts a url with &xmin=####&xmax=####&other=parameters& format.

NOTE: as of revision 21, openlayers 2.7 is required. see the example above. no changes are required other than pointing to http://openlayers.org/api/2.7/OpenLayers.js instead of 2.6 (or 2.5)
