jsMolEdit is a AJAX editor and viewer for 2D chemical structures. The key difference between jsMolEdit and other web based is that jsMolEdit is completely based on web browsers and requires no Java Virtual Machine like other APPLET editors. Chemical structure is processed by a server side Java servlet, and represents as image on client side. User actions are handled by a GWT Java application which can be compiled into pure javascript runs in major browsers.
jsMolEdit is also open source and free software. Everyone can download and change the source code, provided that they make the changes publicly available again, according to the GNU Lesser General Public License, LGPL.
