Simula Conduit (Conduit for short) is a streamlined system for general distribution and deployment (installation/uninstallation and related tasks) of software on multiple platforms. The system currently supports Linux (mainly Ubuntu), Windows and OS X. It is almost completely written in Python.
Conduit streamlines the distribution/deployment processes by providing a framework for software projects to publish metadata about their software in a platform-independent way (based on the DOAP RDF vocabulary), and tools that are able to use these data to automate installation. The system supports explicit dependencies between software, and handles them automatically during deployment. Functionality-wise, Conduit offers benefits relatively similar to conventional Linux package managers such as APT. We believe Conduit to be superior, however, especially given its support for multiple platforms.
