This project was born out of a desire to have a media repository source which is lazily synced down to a mede8er media player via the FTP server provided by the firmware.
It compares the source repo with the destination player and:
copies missing or incomplete files (based on name and size)
removes files on the player not found at the source
optionally archives files marked as watched (requires mede8er firmware v3 or higher to work -- similar firmware patchlevel required for other players like the Patriot, I would assume)
removes orphaned watched indicator files from the player
In essence, it"s actually a rather simple file synchroniser which can sync filesystems where the source is local and the destination is ftp. By extension, it should be able to do the reverse (ftp to local) and even others (local to local, ftp to ftp) -- though these secondary functions could probably stand for some testing.
