Package management is different in every GNU/Linux system. .rpm does not get installed in .deb based distributions and vice versa. .tgz (the format for slackware) does not get installed in any of the other two and it is also vice versa. This difference in package management systems, divide the whole GNU/Linux world in small parts. This way new users feel uncomfortable with the system. Having a universal package management system will help everyone. This project is aiming towards that goal of providing a universal package management system for GNU/Linux.
