ICT4D Atlas
The first IDRC Acacia atlas was developed as a paper atlas from digital sources. It features beautifully colored maps that effectively convey a wealth of mapped information. In 2005, these same digital sources were used to create a Web-based mapping application using MapServer and ka-Map. Based on these technologies and the cartography created in the paper maps an application as elegant as the paper counterpart can be achieved.
A second phase of this project was initiated in 2007. The objectives of this phase were allow Individuals at all levels (government, academic, NGO, civil society and private sector) to access, populate and visualize relevant multiregional ICT4D information in order to promote dialogue and engender change.
This interactive tool highlights results of research networks in Asian, Latin American and African countries. The Atlas will help the user understand better the territorial issues associated with ICT indicators and
