This is a gedit plugin to clean up a FASTA sequence file. For example, when manually copying & pasting gene sequences from a website, particularly when combining several different exons, you are often left with the lines of different lengths. This plugin simply adjusts the sequence so that each line has the same number of characters (60 by default, but configurable in the plugin"s configuration dialog).
Plenty of programs exist to convert sequence files in other formats into FASTA, which is beyond the scope of this plugin. This is merely to clean up a hand-assembled FASTA file.
