FakeBitOps is a String manipulation library written in Lua, whose sole function happens to be binary emulation. The reason for making this is that, while BitOps does exist for Lua, it must be compiled into the Lua executable. For those still requiring the use of binary strings, but under abnormal restrictions, such as the default lua executable, this library exists.
