Regular answering machines are located in your flat or at your provider. But in a mobile world it might to have one device in your pocket which controls all of them. This has the advantage of leave current messages for the caller instead of something default nonesense. This message might be a SMS or prerecocreded message with information about where and when you are available. It is also useful to have access to different machines at the same time (e.g. company, home and mobile) to answer all calls as soon as possible.
