Project Description
To address the problem of incoming students needing to find their way around the Penn State campus and surrounding areas, from first-year as freshmen or incoming from branch campuses, we propose to create a mobile application to give directions to specific locations via cellphone. For those not yet adept at the finer details of the campus, this tool will enable them to be better students and get to class promptly. There is also room to expand in the future by being able to pinpoint individual classrooms and such, but for now will stick to specific locations on a building-by-building basis.
To make this successful we have GPS devices that will give us accurate measurements. Being an open source tool, ideally anyone can contribute to the database of hotspots around campus, but we will need to think if we want to do this initially.
