Goal
Enables personal weather stations to gather and upload information to various servers such as the weather underground. The goal of this project is to provide a reasonably simple means for people with some programming knowledge to develop plugins for their weather station and upload real time weather data to the destination of their choice.
My Story
I own an Oregon Scientific WMR-968 that I like to use to upload real-time data to the Weather Underground through their Rapid Fire protocol. I used to have a Windows PC dedicated to this task. It crashed a couple of years ago and I never got around to rebuilding it. Recently, I built a Ubuntu server that I use for my own personal storage and data management and I thought it would be great if I could give it the task of uploading weather data. I discovered that there are very few options for weather stations in Linux that monitor and upload data to the internet. That is how I got started on
