EMV Cardreader is a software version of the hand-held card reader devices distributed by banks in various countries used for secure internet sign-on, payments and transfers.
Currently it is known to work with UK cards thanks to information and research conducted by the publishers of this document: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~sjm217/papers/fc09optimised.pdf
The software is also security conscious; entering data in one mode that would be valid for another mode will cause it to fire a warning.
The software will run on Linux providing you have installed Mono + PCSC-Lite and have a reader which is compatible with it - in order to get it to run simply create a text file that has the same filename as the program with .config appended to it (so if you didn"t rename the program, that would be CardReader-Security.exe.config - beware case sensitivity) and finally, copypaste this code into the file with a text editor:
